The Lafayette Genealogical Society monthly meeting will be held Thursday, July 18, 2024, beginning at 6:00 p.m., Lafayette Public Library, Southside Branch, 6101 Johnston St., Lafayette, LA.  The guest speaker is Kevin Rees, a retired attorney, and landman currently a French interpretive tour guide at Vermilionville.   His passion has always been history, especially French history in North America.  He will speak about the Early Colonial History of Louisiana from 1699 to 1763:  What is now Spain claimed Louisiana, so how and when did it become French?  For more information, go to LALGS.org
