Today’s Country Legend was born February 12,  in Meridian, Mississippi,

His grandfather worked on the railroads with Jimmie Rodgers.

His family moved to San Antonio, Texas, when Moe was six

His mother played piano and sang. He was taught to play the guitar by his father who had a country band

during his high school years he showed little interest in music and a great deal of interest in rodeos. He tried bronco-busting and bull riding

Today’s Country Legend was born April 29th in Abbott, Texas.

wrote his first song at age seven and joined his first band at ten.

In High School  he was a halfback on the football team, guard on the basketball team, and shortstop in baseball. He also raised pigs with the Future Farmers of America.

In 1960 he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and later signed a publishing contract with Pamper Music which allowed him to join Ray Price's band as a bassist.

In 1990, Nelson's assets were seized by the Internal Revenue Service, which claimed that he owed $32 million. The difficulty of paying his outstanding debt was aggravated by weak investments he had made during the 1980s.
