When you’re feeling lonely or anxious, reading poetry and sharing it with others can help. Researchers found that 51 percent of people said they felt better able to deal with loneliness and isolation by reading and/or writing poetry. Fifty percent said it helped ease anxiety and depression and 24 percent said it helped them feel more equipped to handle problems.
