The community of Church Point is mourning the loss of Errol Comeaux, also known as “Slu”. Comeaux was the oldest serving councilman on Church Point’s committee, serving since 1988.

The Breaux Bridge police chief is recovering after deputies said he accidentally shot himself. It happened at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office gun range during a training exercise. Deputies said the chief should be okay.

Sheriff Becket Breaux said deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Division recovered the body of a Breaux Bridge man at the Catahoula Locks on Tuesday around 8:30 a.m.
