Blane Sonnier Laid To Rest

The Acadiana Music scene mourns one of its integral members. A self-professed jack of all trades, including being a great person, Blane Sonnier passed away suddenly this past Friday of a heart attack at the age of 59. Blane is the father of Dustin Sonnier and was Dustin’s biggest fan.  Blane also accompanied Ken Holloway on his shows. The legendary Cajun Musician Johnny Sonnier counted Blane as a close friend and confidant. Johnny shared on Facebook how Blane called “Chere Alice” a classic when he recorded it. Blane always was plugged into something that sounded great and would lend his support when he believed in it.

Blane will be laid to rest on Monday at Melancon Funeral Home and Evangeline Memorial Gardens.
