Lafayette firefighters responded to a commercial fire at Studio Bloom Salon, 1100 block of Coolidge Street at 9:30 a.m. this morning. An employee entered the business and discovered the building filled with smoke. The employee immediately called 911. Firefighters arrived on scene and located a smoldering fire in the lobby area. Emergency crews finished extinguishing the small fire and ventilated the business. The interior of the business sustained heavy smoke damage with moderate fire damage in the waiting area.
The business was not occupied when the fire started. Employees left the salon around 3:00 p.m. yesterday. When the employee arrived this morning, she opened the door and smoke discharged out of the salon.
